Slowly but surely I think I’m pulling myself out of my funk. A couple weeks ago, I was in a funk and I was tired of it. This week, I’m feeling more funkedelic less funk. My outlook is more positive. I’m still tired of the crap but I know it will get better.
I’ve resigned to the fact that I just can’t eat very many fruits and vegetables right now. When my doctor told me to take probiotics, she said it would take a long time to get back to normal but I guess I was hoping it wouldn’t be that long. If it doesn’t get better, the next step is to start running tests. I’m not ready for that so I shall deal with it. I had to figure out a way to get my the nutrients I am missing for all the fruits and veggies. My body was screaming at me and I had to listen. I’ve been low on energy, feeling extra achy from my workouts, suffering from sciatica, and battling a bad acne breakout.
My solution? Juicing. I had narrowed down my stomach issues to a reaction to the plant cellulose (i.e. fiber) in the fruits and veggies. It occurred to me that I could enjoy them through juicing. I had never been a fan of juicing before since it seemed it wasted perfectly good portions of the produce. Given my new situation, it suddenly seemed like a good idea. So, I invested in a decent juicer and have been juicing for a week. To be honest, I find the whole process a bit labor intensive for a glass of juice. BUT I am seeing results already! I have more energy and my skin is clearing up. I am in shock about that. Within days of juicing my skin was brighter, my pimples were shrinking, and new ones were not coming as quickly. This process is teaching me that there are amazing things in fruits and veggies that our body needs! Vitamins, Phytonutrients, Flavonoids, Oh My!
My new found energy helped me do a 5 mile muddy obstacle course run to benefit the MS Society. It was raining and chilly. I had a blast. As soon as I get pictures from a friend, I’ll share all the details! Afterwards, I went to a cookout where I ate lots of crappy, yummy food, laughed harder than I had in a long time, and have decided that I need swear of Kentucky everclear (190 proof!) for the rest of my life. Why I thought it was a good idea in the first place is beyond me….okay fine, how do you turn down something called Lemonade Moonshine? It was sooooo good.
So I think I’m on the right path to get rid of the funk and get a little funkadelic. : )
P.S. The sciatica is gone!
Do you ever juice? What do you think of it?
Have you done and obstacle course run before? which ones?
Who has been crazy enough to try everclear? Talk people!
